Vegas Gambles with Fruitfull®
 |
|
Tabitha with the new face of Fruitfull®
in Vegas - Pat Vaughan |
April 9th, 2010
A week in Vegas and the only thing I gambled was
Fruitfull®! ☺ I'd say we won and
came out ahead. For those of you who weren't aware, Jason Lauw
sold his franchise to Pat Vaughan and I spent a week training
him.
We had a wonderful warm week and we signed a hospital coffee
shop and a number of convenient stores. We even managed to
resign an account that carried Fruitfull® eight years ago. They
were so excited to see that we were still in Vegas! The manager
said she missed her strawberry cream bar. I also found out that
Pat has put Fruitfull® in the World's Largest Gift Shop (that's
the name) so next time you're in Vegas go and check it out.
Pat has been in the ice cream business for years and distributes
other products. He knows that Fruitfull® will be an incredible
asset to his current route and of course I can't wait to hear
about his success.
Pat is married to Kristin and they have two kids. They can't
wait to meet everyone at the convention in San Diego.
Good luck Pat and keep us posted!
Tabitha
Pat Vaughan's letter about
his Locating week:
Dear Linda,
Our Mayor, Oscar Goodman (former attorney for
some allegedly colorful characters), has a little saying he like to
use for anyone not in Vegas, "What happens in Vegas, stays in
Vegas".
So in an effort not to upset the Mayor like President Obama
has, I will only be able to give a brief overview of our
training week:
- Tabitha did fly into Vegas on Saturday.
- We did visit prospective accounts around the valley with
product samples.
- Tabitha was drop off at the airport Friday afternoon (I
can't confirm that she actually left but did say something
about feeling lucky winning Megabucks, buying an island and
sitting on the beach all day long).
Seriously, Tabitha has great product knowledge and a great
presentation with an excellent product to present to prospective
accounts. We were able to get commitments from 10 locations with
several others still in the works. Hopefully, next year I can
get Tabitha back out to Vegas (if she is not too busy chasing a
little one) to try and crack some of our biggest C market
corporations that control 90% of our markets. (They control over
500+ locations and don't have a single fruit bar).
Overall, it was a nice to see someone else's sales
presentation and spend some quality time on the fun part of the
sale business. As our local economy limps along this year, I
feel that the Fruitfull® line will make a quality addition to
our existing product lines and will fill a missing niche of
product that our existing and all potential new customers are
looking for.
With people like Tabitha on the team, the future will have
unlimited possibilities. It feels great to be part of the
Fruitfull® team.

Iowa
is Overwhelmed by Fruitfull®
 |
Wayne and Tabitha delivering a freezer
to a new Fruitfull®
account |
April 23rd, 2010
What an amazing week I had training our new franchisees Wayne
and Joan Anderson in Alburnett Iowa. The weather was beautiful
and the people were very accepting.
We started
our week off with every intention of stopping by all seven
Hy-Vee Drug stores. After the first stop we found out that all
of the store managers meet on Thursdays and vendors are welcome
to come and present to all of them at once. Well...guess where
we're going on Thursday I told Wayne. ☺ I love group
presentations! So taking away half our plan for the day we still
managed to fill the day with some great places and presentations
thanks to Wayne's organized list of stops. We even secured St
Luke's Hospital that day and set them up for a delivery and a
sampling at the end of the week. Our week got
better every day. Wayne took me to IA-80, World's Largest Truck
Stop. Yes, we signed two freezers there so if you're ever in the
area you should definitely stop. You can have a fruit bar, go to
the dentist, or get a massage. They have everything.
Some of the other accounts we secured are
Kirkwood Community College Café, Kirkwood C-store, the VA
Hospital, Cancun Restaurant, Hy-Vee Drug and even Hy-Vee Gas.
Wayne spent many years in video production and
still does some on the side. His wife Joan is a teacher for
special needs kids. They are both very excited and driven to get
this franchise up and running the way they’ve dreamt about and
they are well on their way.
Good luck Wayne and Joan! Tabitha
Joan & Wayne Anderson's letter about
their Locating week:
Dear Linda,
We are still going through the cards and lists,
but the count so far for one week with Tabitha plus one is 15
accounts secured and a whole bunch requiring follow-up. Unlike
the norm of expecting at least a few denials, Tabitha produced a
near 100 percent track record for signing accounts. Now here's
the scary part. We barely got through our list, focusing on
hospitals, colleges and a drugstore chains. We no more than
shook hands than we had a contract. She even signed up the hotel
where she was staying! We delivered two freezers, had a taste
testing in one of the three hospitals, and even practiced
intercultural haggling over price with an independent concession
owner in a mall. In the end, she won, and all was good.
Most interesting was introducing the product to a Mideast
international distributor for Halal products. Within the
hour-long meeting, the owner brought in six of his top
international representatives, the rest of the office, the
warehouse crew and the Halal certification manager. All agreed
it was a terrific product. We look forward to seeing where this
leads. Bottom, line, she placed all of my
freezers, and now I have to buy more. I wasn't planning on that,
so we already have to expand the company. Even
seven months pregnant, and stopping at every possible restroom
facility, her energy and product knowledge was off the charts.
We managed to do in a week what I felt would take a month. We
still have all the local mini marts, schools, service
organizations, and health clubs to pursue. Whew, am I tired.
What in the world do we do now? She also
explained a lot of paperwork to Joan who is going to have to
help Wayne keep all the accounts straight. Tabitha explained
everything very clearly including where to find info on the web
site. I'm very glad that she said we could call her because I'm
sure there is something we forgot to ask. We're sort of glad
she's leaving, in a loving way. With a bit of
recovery time and rest this weekend, we will be ready for a fun
adventure. Thanks for all your hard work.

Rob Salzman, his wife, Ronnie,
and their son, Jake,
smile for Tabitha before taking her to the airport after a very
successful KickStart week |
March 26th, 2010
Well it was great to finally work with Rob Salzman in
Long Island, NY. I'd say we had a booming week and I hope all of the
accounts we secured bring him much success.
We went all over it seemed, from Long Island, to
Brooklyn and Queens. I must say I will not miss the traffic or the bumpy
roads in NY. Needless to say I think that added to our frequent restroom
stops. Some of the accounts we
secured are, three locations for Union Market, Hoffstra University,
Associated Supermarket, Living Natural Market and some 7-11 stores. Rob
and I took a gentleman out to lunch who was the President of his area
for 7-11 franchised stores. He was extremely helpful and handed over not
only his five locations but helped us secure around ten more locations
for conventional accounts. Rob has dreams of being the 7-11 master of
Long Island so stay tuned. ☺ It
was great to spend this time with Rob because I finally got to meet his
family, his beautiful wife Ronnie and their son Jake. Ronnie is a
teacher and Jake is fourteen and likes to play tennis.
Thank you for the warm welcome and send off. I know that
the H&H staff and all of the franchisees hope to meet the Salzman family
one day. In the meantime my photo will have to do.
Good luck Rob!

his KickStart week:
KickStart Advice from a Co-Franchisee of the Year
Hi Linda and Tabitha,
Thank you for making my KickStart a big success! I would highly
recommend everyone to try one. It will only be a plus to your business.
I was able to get into locations that said "No" a couple of years ago.
(I think making a pregnant women go up and down stairs helped us,
because they felt sorry for her.) Tabitha would say to them "Let me
catch my breath", then she would do her sales presentation.
I'm very busy now setting up my new
accounts and doing follow up calls when I'm able to find the time.
Doing my KickStart with Tabitha, I learned where all the
bathrooms are! Tabitha learned some new names that she can call her baby
. We meet some crazy people during the KickStart. For example a man
passed by Tabitha and asked her if she was pregnant or just fat! Tabitha
I'm glad you had the chance to spend some time with my family and I wish
you all the best with your baby. Regards,
Rob Salzman

A
Truly 'Kool' KickStart
 |
Joe Piotrowski & Vicki Kollar-Piotrowski
of Kool Things in Peninsula, Ohio |
March 26th, 2010
My week in Ohio had a bit of a rough start with a
delayed flight and a less than appealing hotel, but these were not omens
of the week to come! Doing a KickStart in Ohio was like visiting my
roots and I admit I felt a bit nostalgic when my hosts for the week took
me to a delicious Maple Syrup Pancake Breakfast...yum!
It may have been the maple syrup, our timing, our bright
smiling faces, or how wonderful our products are (most likely all of
these combined!), but Happy & Healthy and Kool Things had a most
successful week in eastern Ohio. We know as a rule of thumb that rain is
the "mortal enemy" of fruit bars, but the rain didn't stand a chance as
we visited sports venues, museums, hospitals, markets, and more!
I really learned a lot from Vicki & Joe, during our week
together. They shared their knowledge and experience with me, and in
return I worked diligently to dazzle everyone we met. I don't know if
you all know this, but not only is Vicki is a a Fruitfull® franchisee
veteran, but Vicki and Joe are both veterans of the military, too!
I got to hear some great stories from years past and even braved a taste
of a tongue & liver sandwich, which Joe assured me was quite tasty (and
actually, it was pretty good). The week ran very smoothly (even the
temperamental speedometer couldn't distract our focus) and a big part of
that was due to how thorough and prepared my hosts were. Joe was our
navigator extraordinaire and Vicki was the calm assurance that the
buyers needed to know they would be well taken care of. ☺
I think the most exciting moment of the week was when we
signed the Cleveland Cavaliers* -- OMGosh! And the best part is, the
Aramark manager's pet project is a healthy concession area which is a
PERFECT fit for Fruitfull®. Additionally, we found that all of the
Aramark buyers are in close contact and we received excellent
recommendations as we made our way around to meet with them! It was like
having a built in referral system -- woo hoo!
Speaking of referrals, I want to encourage every
franchisee to take full advantage of them. They are one of the best way
to find new accounts, especially within the network of a foodservice.
Finally, I would like to send a great big THANK YOU to
Vicki & Joe for your warm welcome, for being absolutely stellar hosts,
and for working so hard all week by my side. I will remember my first
KickStart of 2010 with great fondness and look forward to working with
you again soon!!!
Sincerely,
Lindsey
*Editor's note: The account is with Quicken Loans
Arena where the Cavaliers and the Monsters (hockey) and the Gladiators
(arena football) play. Excellent job, Lindsey, Joe, and Vicki!
Vicki Kollar & Joe
Piotrowski's letter about
their KickStart week:
Dear Linda,
It was a beautiful early Spring day
when we picked up Lindsey. Her flight had been delayed; she arrived at
the hotel about 3 AM! We let her sleep in (the only day this week) then
headed a bit into the country to enjoy a traditional Ohio Maple Syrup
Pancake brunch and set up our plan of attack for the week. The Florida
girl was wearing her beach sandals! We managed to move her to a
different hotel because the first was also hosting a very smoke-filled
billiard tournament. Hopefully a good night's rest would come.
Well, it was raining when Joe and I
gathered up our star locator who was still a bit under the weather from
all the hand-shaking and cheerleading she did last week at a franchise
show in Chicago. But she was RARING TO GO! Our list of prospects is
filled with big targets but we start off small. Then we get to the Zoo.
The sun is breaking out and the Aramark Food Director is crazy about our
Be Happy & Healthy® Snacks and Breads! We ended the day at a huge new
church who loved everything. Hooray!
Started the next day in a heavy fog.
Lindsey has slept fairly well. She fared well with a grocery chain ready
to evaluate Frozen Novelties in a few weeks. Next we head off to a
couple of colleges, some area museums, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
A day full of sunshine was
highlighted by an actual Aramark Sports contract at Quicken Loans Arena,
home of the Cleveland Cavaliers! High fives all around!
We've run across many Bon Appetit/Chartwell
locations and more Aramark locations. It's refreshing to find that
within their groups they know and talk o each other! Of course they are
liking our Happy & Healthy Products.
Another very rainy day, but spirits
are not dampened. We ended the day at a corporate campus. During
Lindsey's presentation, I was totally amazed that the Food Service
Director actually gave her the names of two other accounts and ORDERED
her to talk to them tomorrow. His ulterior motive was that the strength
of three would carry enough weight to get approval up the chain of
command.
Lindsey is a "quiet warrior" who is
producing great results. I hope we can do her right and produce signed
contracts from the wonderful presentations she has given. But she'll
have to put the sandals away for a while longer -- it's snowing now!
Sincerely yours,
Vicki Kollar & Joe Piotrowski
Kool Things
P.S. Today the sun came out and we signed THREE freezers from
yesterday's presentation!

Breezing Through
Chicago
 |
|
Pete, one of the owners of Elgin Fresh Market and Jeff are
all smiles next to the Fruitfull® freezer. This is Jeff's
most prized account as he has secured this spot for ten years.
Pete says that Jeff's service is the best and they love our
product. |
April 2nd, 2010
Spending a week with Happy &
Healthy's Top Producer was full of hard work, long days and secrets
shared by one of the best. I took notes and wanted to share.
First and foremost Jeff believes in
great service. He says that personal, weekly service can make or break
an account and he prides himself on being unforgettable in service. He
also only starts his accounts with 10 to 12 boxes. He certainly doesn't
want to overwhelm an account and make them feel like he's "over selling"
them in the beginning. It's about trust. He still to this day after 11
years in business always guarantees his products. Some of you who don't,
may want to reconsider as most of your competitors are guaranteeing
their products.
Jeff prides himself on the strong
relationships he has with his accounts. We delivered to a few of his
accounts that he has had for eight to ten years and even though they
carry another company and this competitor out sells Jeff, they still
keep the Fruitfull®
freezer up front at the express lane because of the
relationship Jeff has with the owner and all of the employees. Great
job, Jeff!
A lesson Jeff learned early on from
his dad is, "treat and respect everyone with kindness as everyone in
this world knows someone who might know you." Wonderful advice.
Jeff and I secured ten accounts this
week. They are all grocery stores but my favorite is Chapala Market.
Jeff had tried a few times without success and hadn't been back for a
while. We took a shot. Turns out that the owner Miguel buys them from
his local Whole Foods and loves them. What he was most excited about was
that he can finally get them cheaper. HA! You just never know who your
going to meet that knows Fruitfull®.
Thank you Jeff and Nancy for such a
lovely time. I thoroughly enjoyed our send off dinner, YUMMY!!
Good luck making your goal this year
and keep me posted.
Tabitha
Jeff Robin's letter about
his KickStart week:
Hi Tabitha,
Sorry for the delay in writing you.
Taking a week off from seeing my accounts has put me way behind.
Needless to say I have been very busy trying to catch up.
First - Thank You.
Thank you for giving me the
motivation to get out and get some new accounts.
Second - Thank You.
Thank you for bringing some marvelous
weather to Chicago when it has been an unusually cold, snowy and
generally lousy winter this year. The week before you came, it was 30º
or less every day, snowy, rainy and just about everything else. But you
came and brought 70º plus almost everyday. As a matter of fact, we set a
record 80º one day. Amazing. Though one day it was cold in the morning,
with the heat on in the truck, but by the afternoon you asked me to put
on the air conditioning for the first time. No problem, was glad to do
it. (Gas isn’t $4.00 yet)
Now you leave me and wouldn't you
know it. The weather is back down in the 30's, cold, rainy, and the heat
back on in the truck. That's Chicago for you.
I can't believe the week has come and
gone so fast. Time really flies.
The week started out great as Nancy
and I were able to treat you at our home to our first BBQ of the year.
Hope you enjoyed it.
We worked hard each day and got a
bunch of new accounts, and a lot of great leads and I hope it leads to a
very successful year.
I hope you enjoyed our tour of the
Chicagoland area. I took you from good areas to bad, from the city to
the suburbs. We sure covered a lot of ground. I tried to route us to be
in one area each day, but as you saw, that did not always work out as we
had to backtrack a few times.
I thought we worked pretty well
together. I thought we made a pretty good team. I learned a lot from you
as I hope you learned a lot from me also.
I'm glad I got you now, not in a
couple of months or so. Hope I didn't work you too hard, but sometimes
it seemed nothing stops you.
Sorry about having to leave Tucker
alone each day. Hope he did not mind. He must not have as he got more
friendly to me as the week progressed.
So to wrap up, thanks again for
coming, thanks for all your hard work, and thank you for being so
professional and putting up with me all week. I hope our send off dinner
was enough to say We Love You, We Thank You and We wish you the best
with the baby and everything in the future.
Best always,
Jeff and Nancy

Fruitfull® in the City of
Angels
 |
Dick and Lindsey pause in
Koreatown for a quick photo op. |
April 2nd, 2010
What a great trip I had to LA, to
work with our longest standing Fruitfull® franchisee! Dick Dyer is truly
a master of his work, his city, and buffets everywhere in between.☺ I
have to say that I learned a lot about "operating in the cracks" as Dick
put it. We avoided traffic (anyone who has visited LA knows this is
unheard of!) and we successfully secured accounts that had previously
been elusive, like HK Market and Cal State!
After so many years with Happy &
Healthy, Dick has his business down to a science. He chooses his
accounts with great care and organizes them on a grading scale according
to their sales. He strives for the accounts that will bring home the
bacon. (Speaking of bacon, Dick and I marked something off our bucket
lists this week.
We ventured into an all-you-can-eat
Korean BBQ. We were given a selection of meats, including two types of
bacon, some sirloin, and tripe. We were then left to figure out how to
cook our own lunch with the plethora of sauces and meats in front of us.
We worked together and eventually figured out how to cook and combine
everything, except for the tripe which we offered to the table next to
us.☺ Check!)
Dick can tell you exactly what
flavors will sell best in each location, and takes the utmost care of
his accounts. He is an outstanding example of what hard work, following
through, following up, and being consistent is all about!
I look forward to working with Dick
next year, and signing up many more amazing accounts.
Thank you Dick for a fantastic week!
Sincerely,
Lindsey
Dick Dyer's letter about
his KickStart week:
Dear Linda:
Our KickStart the last week of March
went well. It was quality over quantity this year -- one hospital, three
large schools, and one market out of a 6 store chain.
Lindsey is smart, focused, effective
and willing to make the extra effort. At our appointment to L. A.
Unified School System, the fire alarm went off and unfortunately
deactivated the elevators. This meant a ten story trek up the stairs to
deliver our message! Lindsey's fitness paid off as she delivered the
message flawlessly.
I look forward to working with
Lindsey next year!
Hope all is well with you and Andy.
Best regards,
Dick Dyer

Wrapping Up in the Rockies
 |
Tom shows us a BIG smile as he is proud to service his freezer
at one of his Vitamin Cottages in Colorado |
April 16th. 2010
As my KickStarts come to an end, I was thrilled to spend a week in the
Rocky Mountains with Tom and Susan Schoenborn of Sensibly Delicious.
Tom and I made numerous stops. We hit
Whole Foods Markets and Sunflower Markets that are sure to want a
freezer in the next week or two. They were very excited to see us and
look forward to getting started with Fruitfull®.
I also learned that Tom services a
number of Recreation Centers with Fruitfull® and Be Happy & Healthy®
Breads. Recently the city of Boulder has taken a stand on eliminating
junk food from the schools and the recreation centers are following
suit. The good news is that Fruitfull® and our breads (except Cappuccino
Chocolate Chip) have passed the nutrition test and Boulder has welcomed
it with open arms. Parents love that there is actually a healthy
alternative for them and their families.
Tom and Susan currently have 42
active accounts and their goals this year includes getting to 60 freezer
accounts and selling ten pallets. Tom is also growing his Fruit
Goodness® sales and hopes to be one of the top selling Fruit Goodness®
franchisees at the next convention. Of course he hopes to sell a ton of
Fruitfull® but he knows those are pretty big shoes to fill.
I wish Tom and Susan the best and
thank them for their hospitality. They sure know how to make a fabulous
spaghetti dinner. Yum!
Tabitha
Tom Schoenborn's letter about
his KickStart week:
Dear Linda:
What a week! What a KickStart!
Tabitha and I had a great (and fun)
week together, and were able to:
-
Expand existing markets (Whole
Foods)
-
Revisit old opportunities
(Sunflower Markets)
-
Develop new markets (skateboard
shops, recreation/senior centers)
A consummate 'team' player, Tabitha
graciously agreed to integrate sales calls during my normal delivery
schedule. We closed the first new account on Monday (skateboard shop)
and the gregarious owner provided multiple leads that resulted in
another new account the following week.
We were able to build on the initial
success each day and have added new Sunflower Market and Whole Foods
locations, confirmed a number of seasonal accounts, and have at least 10
leads 'pending' in May. We also had an excellent call with a local
Sodexo operations manager and have a number of opportunities pending.
The entire experience is what we consider a complete success!
Tabitha was poised, confident, and professional during our locating week
in 2008 and has continued to develop her skills by putting every
experience since then to good use. We are thrilled with the results of
our KickStart and hope we can have another week with Tabitha next year.
Thanks again for providing this great opportunity as well as outstanding support
from the entire H&H team. ☺
Best Regards,
Tom & Susan Schoenborn

Fruitfull®
in the City of Angels: Take Two
 |
|
David calls on another satisfied customer
|
April 16th, 2010
During my second trip out to the City
of Angels this spring, I was lucky enough to work with David Kang. David
is a very focused and hard worker, and he is not afraid to do whatever
it takes to get the job done. He admitted that he sometimes has tunnel
vision but during our week together we paid attention to the details and
combined that with David's tenacity and had a very successful week.
The dynamic of the franchisees in the
Los Angeles area is pretty cool. Everyone seems to have certain areas
they focus on and they do a good job of respecting each other and
helping each other out. Dick Dyer, who is like a big brother to the
other franchisees in Los Angeles, focuses on the large accounts and is a
champion of consistent follow-up, and David is doing a great job of
following in his footsteps.
With David's trusty van and a freezer
full of Fruitfull®, we traveled far and wide and found a lot of great
locations. We signed up a large hospital, a country club, and some
health food stores just to name a few. Our best success, however, was at
the Air Force Bases in the area. As you know, we have a national account
with AAFES and since David is a Reservist we had easy access and were
able to skip over the security and red tape that many people encounter
when trying to enter a base. And all three bases that we visited where
thrilled to bring it in!
David and I had a fantastic week and
I look forward to watching his business grow. I think this KickStart
really got the wheels turning as we began to realize how many untapped
locations there really are...and now that David is back from serving our
great country in the Middle East, I see a very Fruitfull® future ahead
of him. ☺
Thank you David, I look forward to
working with you again in the future!
Sincerely,
Lindsey
David Kang's letter about
his KickStart week:
I had a great time, with Lindsey -- and I am glad that we did not get
lost as much as the previous KickStart.
We found some great accounts in Riverside. I had a good week and it was
worth every penny. We stopped and we had some healthy food like sushi,
Subway and seafood, and Fruitfull® of course.
I will miss the time with Lindsey, it
was a great week, and I'm looking forward for the next KickStart. (I am
sorry that the air condition was broken, but I will get it fixed, when I
sell more fruit bars!)
Overall , I am glad that Lindsay did
not get a sunburn in her left arm like it happened to Tabitha last time
we went on KickStart. This KickStart gave me a feeling that this is a
great franchise and there is still a lot of room to grow.
Thank you Lindsay and have a
Fruitfull® year!

'Delite'-ing
Tastebuds in Pennsylvania
 |
|
Bear Creek Campers gave Fruitfull® two
paws up |
April 23rd, 2010
What an awesome week in Pennsylvania! Marci & John Rehrig of
Tastebud Delites in Palmerton are fabulous hosts and on the night that they
picked me up, they made me a delicious home-cooked meal! This may not seem
all that exciting to some people, but when you are on the road a lot a
home-cooked meal is just what the doctor ordered.☺
In addition to starting the week out right with a
well-balanced Sunday dinner, we stayed on the right foot by starting Monday
morning with a "Yes!" at a local college. Even thought this college didn't
have summer classes, they were thrilled to get started right away and
provide our products for the summer camps that they hold there. They even
have a new concession that is geared toward healthy options...a perfect
place for our Happy & Healthy products!
Speaking of summer camps, for anyone who hasn't thought of
pursuing them, START PURSUING THEM! Yes, they are seasonal, but they are
also a captive audience and a potential high selling account.
We visited and called a lot summer camps during our week...I
had no idea there were so many...and had some fantastic success. We also
made some good networking connections for other camps in the area. It is
such a good feeling to know that the kids at these camps will have a
delicious and healthy alternative to candy this summer.
My favorite success story of this week was not something we
planned on. After visiting big beautiful market (that ended up bringing in
Fruitfull® to replace their Edy's freezer) we noticed a HUGE Merck company
campus nearby. This place is so big that it even has its own area code!
So, I channeled my inner Sherlock Holmes and found out that
their food service is run by Flik (which is one of our national accounts).
Shortly after I left a message with the director, he called back and we
scheduled a meeting with his team bright and early on Friday morning. The
meeting ended in the best way, with a scheduled delivery for the following
week.☺
After successful week, Marci and John took me out for a
delicious lunch with the best view in town! It is also an awesome concert
venue, where John and his band frequently play. Unfortunately, this time I
didn't get to catch a performance, but maybe next time I will! I thoroughly
enjoyed my week in Pennsylvania, and I look forward to the opportunity to
return.
Thank you, Marci and John, for your kindness - and keep up
the good work!
Sincerely,
Lindsey
John & Marcia Rehrig's letter about
their KickStart week:
Dear Linda,
Fabulous! Our KickStart with Lindsey can only be described
with that word!!
We were a bit worried and considered postponing our
KickStart because of the delay with the Sodexo preferred vendor status. I
spoke to Lindsey several weeks before our scheduled week and she said it was
unlikely approval would go through by then. We decided to go ahead as
scheduled, even though my early list included a lot of Sodexo locations, and
I would need to revise my list. We are delighted we did not wait!
We targeted grocery store chains, hospitals, colleges,
corporate accounts, stadiums, arenas, water parks and camps. Our first stop
of the week was a college where they run a summer basketball program. They
loved us and are bringing Fruitfull® in for the summer and will possibly
start us up before the end of the semester. Getting your first account of
the week with your first appointment was a great morale booster!!
Sports camps, gymnastics camps, Christian camps, Jewish
camps, and Girl Scout camps were all on our list. My favorite camp we
visited was where the executive director took us on a camp tour in a golf
cart. Lindsey made her presentation at a picnic table in the middle of the
woods on a beautiful warm Spring morning with a glorious blue sky above!
He loved Fruitfull® and gave us contact information for more
camps and said he will spread the word also! He had been in a meeting when
we arrived, so when we returned to the office, we gave samples to everyone
to enjoy. Great start for our second day!!
Wednesday brought more great results! Camps in the morning
and a hospital where I had only been able to speak to the manager one time
and she told me when the economy improves she will think about it. Lindsey
was able to make an appointment with her and she thought everything was
"cool'. She will bring in products before Memorial Day. An arena where the
season is winding down (hockey is their main attraction) will bring us in in
Fall. He was very interested in the gluten free aspect.
Thursday was a very busy day, with several appointments (and a few
unscheduled calls) and lots of miles in between. A long, long, long, drive
down a dirt road to make an unscheduled stop at a camp was worth the drive.
We weren't sure what we would find down that road, but we had perfect timing
and found the food service manager, who loved Fruitfull® and will be
bringing us in.
Lindsey saw more deer this afternoon than she had ever seen
at one time! Shortly after we left the camp, lightning began flashing, rain
poured down and it began to hail. In the middle of this storm, Lindsey
received a return phone call from a corporate account she had been trying to
talk to. (This account had not even been on my list. We passed by the
location early in the week and I commented it was probably a Sodexo account.
I gave Lindsey the name and number, she did some great detective work and
got a contact name.)
It was late Thursday afternoon and she was able to set up an
8 am appointment Friday morning. It was a great appointment and the food
service manger, catering manager, executive chef, and quality assurance
director were all present. They loved the packaging and said the price is
right. They placed an order for Fruitfull® and HIDD, and are looking at
snacks in bulk and breads in food service loaves for the catering segment.
This FLIK account has 10,000 employees and serves 3,000 lunches daily. The
director also told Lindsey there are several other nearby locations. We were
thrilled and will be starting delivery this week! This last call was
absolutely the icing on the cake!! We had a very successful week, and I
recommend everyone should do a KickStart.
We ended our fabulous week with a few drinks and a late,
relaxing lunch to celebrate at a mountaintop restaurant with a gorgeous view
of the mountains, lake, and ski slope in the area. It was a joy to spend the
week with Lindsey and I know I learned a lot from her. We will be very busy
the next few weeks setting up the new accounts and following up. Thank you,
Lindsey
Also, a great big THANK YOU TO LINDA for offering this
opportunity to do KickStarts! It was an offer we could not refuse!!
Sincerely,
John & Marci Rehrig

Fruitfull®
Sightings
The weather is heating up and
those Fruitfull®
banners and Watermelon CartsTM
are popping up all over!
Our first sighting occurred
in Milwaukie, Oregon where Happy & Healthy franchisee, Dennis
Stephens of Mill Creek Distributing joined forces with Ed
Parecki of the Spring Creek Coffee House.
Dennis supplied the Watermelon Cart
and Ed agreed to man-er, frog it for a recent school
carnival.
 |
Ed really hopped to it by channeling
the Frog Prince for the kids
-- and it was a huge success! |
Per Ed, "We had about 10 minutes of good weather
(actual sunshine). Still, we sold 246 Fruitfull®
and 26 HIDD! The kids loved the frog prince!"
(Seems Fruitfull® is a hit
in Oregon come rain or shine!)
Our next sighting comes
courtesy of franchisee Dyan Robles of Frozen Fruit 4 You
in Whittier, California. Dyan loves the
summer months and interacting with kids and adults of all ages.
She recently took part in her THIRD annual community
event and we've got the photos to prove it.
Dyan set up shop at the annual City of
Whittier Health Fair/Police Open House & Kiddy K
Run
and for an event this size, a cart just
wouldn't do -- so Dyan camped out under a spacious,
fruit-colored tent complete with a ten-foot banner. Dyan
coordinates with the City of Whittier
which pays for each child who
participates in the Kiddy K run to have a Fruitfull®
bar. The first year there were about 150 kids, the second year
210 kids, and this year a record 333 kids!
 |
|
Dyan stays busy handling the record-setting
crowd at this year's event. |
In addition to the freebies
for the race participants, Dyan sells fruit bars to other event
attendees. Because this year's
turn-out was so huge, she enlisted the help of her
sister-in-law, her kids and even one of their friends!
 |
The tickets you see the children holding are what
Dyan providee to
the city
to give out to the kids as they finish the race. |
Events like this can be a
challenge but Dyan considers them some of her most rewarding -
"...the kids love getting a free Fruitfull®
bar, I love seeing their smiling faces, and the City staff and
volunteers love that I give them a free fruit bars!"
The city has been wonderful in never charging
Dyan to be at their events and she
makes sure the staff and
volunteers are taken care of by donating fruit bars to
them as well.
Unlike Denis and Ed above (sorry, guys!), Dyan had perfect
weather for her event and Fruitfull®
was a big hit under the big top.
The west coast didn't have
all the fun though. Paul Klein of Kernal & BJ's
Tasty Treats, Inc in Aurora, Illinois sent us the following
photos from his latest sampling at the Fruitful Yield store in
Elmhurst, IL. The store manager, Carol, requested Paul's help in
promoting Fruitfull® fruit bars as
a way to increase both their sales and the traffic in her store
-- and talk about a success...
 |
Ed really got into the spirit of things by channeling the Frog
Prince for the kids
-- and it was a huge success! |
"I set up in the doorway, under their
overhang, so I couldn't set up the umbrella, but I didn't
need it. The temps were in the high 80s and traffic was
brisk. I got a lot of honks from passing cars, and lots of
foot traffic, too.
We had over 30 sales in the 3 hours I was there, and Carol
stated that the sales of Fruitfull®
have increased so much that I need to make her store a
weekly stop, instead of bi-weekly. All in all, it was a
great way to spend a Saturday afternoon."
Who knows where
Fruitfull®
will pop up next?? It could be in YOUR neighborhood so keep
an eye out for that Watermelon CartTM
or one of our Fruitfull®
banners and treat yourself to something cool -- and healthy!

Symposium 2010
A
Time-Honored Tradition
This year's symposium found us in a company-favorite location, St.
Augustine, Florida – and more precisely the Casa Monica Hotel located in
the heart of the historic district. For Rona and me, it was our first
visit to both and we now understand everyone's pre-symposium excitement.
|
|
From the moment we arrived, the staff at this gorgeous
hotel made things worry-free as possible. (For those of you who haven't
been to St. Augustine, I urge you to visit if you ever get the chance.
The city is beautiful. The weather is wonderful. The food is fantastic.
And everything is within walking distance.)
Unlike last year, there was no extraordinarily early
morning flight to catch – but because we were driving, there was a bit
more do-it-yourself shipping involved this time. (I think everyone
discovered that their vehicles could hold more than they would have
thought possible!) We all arrived late Saturday afternoon in order to
have time to unload everything, do our pre-pre-symposium check, and get
a good night's sleep before diving into the pre-symposium setup Sunday
morning.
Though the Symposium itself didn't officially kick off until Sunday
evening, for the corporate staff, the symposium-related activities began
early Sunday with the usual unpacking of prop cases, assembling of sets,
filling of freezers, testing of equipment, and tweaking of layout. But
this year we had new deadline and a fantastic
reason to meet it – set-up had to be completed in time for Linda to host
a workshop for a potential new franchisee that afternoon. Wayne and Joan
Anderson had driven all the way from Alburnette, Iowa in order to give
Happy & Healthy a look and we were anxious to put our best foot forward.
(And it seems we did indeed but more on that later.)
The afternoon flew by and we soon found ourselves poolside. It was a bit
chillier (and windier) than most would have preferred but soon the
excitement of renewing old acquaintances and making new ones kicked in
and no one seemed to mind. The Welcome Reception kicked off around 5 PM
and Len manned the Welcome table, passing out name badges and goody
bags, some with additional surprises inside. Linda soon appeared with
our workshop attendees, Wayne and Joan, and everyone settled down to
enjoy a few drinks, snack on some good food, and officially kick off
Symposium 2010!
This premium content article is continued in the franchisee only
section of our website and is for the exclusive viewing of our
franchisees. Sorry!
